president ramon calderon and capello knew their mistakes already.
'What a shame that Beckham is leaving.
It is a pity. He's another player that has regained his physical and psychological prowess after being really bothered about not being called by his national team. Playing for their national teams is very important to players, and even more so for the English.
You were wrong about Beckham.
We were all wrong. We all made the decision in the sporting area, and it's mostly my fault. Truthfully, we made a mistake with him.
Not just that, but Beckham has responded incredibly.
Very well. He's a great player. He's playing now like he used to with Manchester.
What would you do to keep him?
He would be a very important player for Madrid. I would be happy if the Club told me Beckham was staying.'

these are so sweet:
'What I really like was seeing Emerson and Raúl on the bench supporting their team. That's what a team is all about.'
- capello
'“Madrid won half the League in Zaragoza. They're already tasting it. Every single player was jumping, shouting, hugging one another...some were even so overcome with emotion that they cried. Maintaining leadership after Zaragoza was a question of life or death. The players new that the League was at stake in Saragossa.”
“The underlying feeling is that the team is united. We saw some great images in the bench. Robinho tapping on Cicinho's face; Raúl biting his nails; Torres covering his face with his hands; Capello shouting at the top of his lungs for a last effort and Emerson hugging the Captain; he couldn't take the pressure…”
“When the referee signaled the end of the match, the entire bench invaded the pitch. The turf of La Romareda was the colour of Madridismo. They looked like juniors celebrating.”'
